Windows 11. The main part of this announcement should be an introduction of a significant UI change codenamed Sun Valley. As we know, a significant part of the UX changes will be inherited by the Windows 10X shell and Windows 10X will not be released. Now, as expected, the information leak about Windows 11 begins.

What’s new in Windows 11:
– Windows 11 will receive a completely new design. Obviously, Microsoft needs a good reason to retract its previous statements and get rid of Windows 10 anyway by introducing a new operating system number. And a completely new design is fantastic for that. The Redmond giant has long been preparing a redesign for an update under the codename Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) – apparently, under this name was Windows 11. The Sun Valley project appeared on the network for a long time: Microsoft gave regular updates. Details of the new interface style became known, experts shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew realistic concepts based on all this data.
– Start and system elements will float above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of every new version of Windows. As expected, the developers will redesign it again in Windows 11, but not so much in a functional sense as in a visual sense: the Start window will float above the bottom bar. We have to admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher. According to information from the network, Microsoft will not radically change the “inside” of this menu – the innovations will only affect the design of the window itself. The control panel will also float, and its design will be exactly the same as that of “Start”. The Action Center is merged with the control buttons – a similar one has long been used in other operating systems. Almost all mentions of this new menu suggest that it will be an island: the control buttons will be on a separate panel, notifications on another, and certain elements (such as a player) on a separate one.
– Right angles will disappear, they will be replaced by curves. In truth, insiders and concept designers disagree on this point: some are confident that Microsoft will not change its traditions and will keep right angles, while others are convinced that Microsoft will follow the fashion of curves in 2021. The latter best fits the definition of “completely new Windows”: simply floating menus are not enough for a new design to be considered truly new. Rounding is expected to affect practically the entire system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows. However, the opinions of concept designers also differ on this issue: some draw curves on all possible elements of the user interface, others combine them with right angles.
– A translucent background with blur will be seen everywhere. On the Internet there is disagreement about the island style of the showcase, the design of the corners and the floating effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees about the transparency of the windows. The vast majority of leaks and design renders show transparency and blurring in all windows, whether at least in the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects are even included in the assembly of the canceled Windows 10X operating system, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak devices.
