The filmmakers used what was already available to them
Story
After being revived by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the timid town of Miles County, where he targets a young girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. The scenes filmed in the haunted house “Terrifier” were shot in a real haunted house called the Fright Factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Art’s favorite acid is fluoroantimonic acid, which he keeps in a clear glass bottle. It’s a super acid that can even dissolve glass.
Art the Clown:
There is a mid-credits scene in a psychiatric hospital with Chris Jericho as security guard Alan Burke and Leah Voysey as a nurse. The German DVD and Blu-ray releases by Tiberius Film are cut by about three minutes to achieve a “Not Under 18” age rating (this was necessary because the guidelines for video releases are stricter than for theatrical releases). Basically every violent scene was cut to tone down the violence. Nameless Media’s 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray mediabook releases are completely uncut and received a light SPIO/JK rating.

The Equaliser (Not Alone)Written by Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle (as Jamison Tyler Lyle)Performed by The MidnightCourtesy of BMG Platinum Songs U.S. (BMI). Like the original, Terrifier 2 is a treat for fans of extreme bloodshed and ’80s horror throwbacks. It marches unabashedly to its drum, walking the line between irony and exploitation.
Some have declared Art the Clown this generation’s “Freddy” Terrifer 2 also benefits from an entertaining supporting cast and a strong lead
And in addition to the gross-out special effects (which are taken to the next level), it has what’s been missing from most genre offerings of late: a wicked sense of humor. The teenage protagonists, while of course expendable, are less cloying than in many modern horror films, and I was rightly disappointed when some of them met very, very grisly ends. The film switches gears after two hours, introducing a new plot development that proves to be a real mystery and may test the patience of some viewers (but I’m sure Leone has his reasons and the payoff will be worth it). Thankfully, the film establishes an internal logic early on, so viewers are more willing to suspend their skepticism as the film moves further into full-blown surreal mode.
The tone is less “Hostel” and more “Evil Dead” or “Troma Films” in my opinion
Minor flaws aside, Terrifer 2 delivers on its promise and would make an ideal midnight double feature with its predecessor. I suspect everyone involved in the production had a lot of fun making it, and the target audience will too.*****Final note: If you’re worried the gore might be too much, I will say that the murders are so extreme and over-the-top that they’re more suited to a cult horror/comedy than a standard torture porn.
