Now, at the age of 65, the protagonist revisits intertwined memories, secrets and desires, giving voice to unspoken past experiences. Official submission of Costa Rica in the Best International Feature Film category of the 97th Academy Awards in 2025.

I hoped it would get better, but it didn’t happen. I am slightly older than the women depicted; maybe I was lucky and had more choices.
The depicted experience was not mine
But if you’re going to create a work of art, you need more than just writing. There were no layers, just tedious memories.
Think about who or what can be responsible?
And how about calling these institutions to account for this oppression? And what about the role of the church?
What about the economic/political context?
And what about the role of the family? The raised questions were thoroughly beaten in many films, novels, documentaries, now we need ideas, not just memories.
