A modern tale of seeking fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs
Watch the most popular movies and TV shows by writer/director Taylor Sheridan on IMDb, ranked by user ratings. A Landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a Landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent.

Essentially, they manage the land and secure leases, so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, man-camps, assemble the excavation machinery, and drill the well itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator.
The main plot so far is engaging and exciting without being too far-fetched
44.24 (2022). Landman is my first Taylor Sheridan series, so I don’t have the kind of expectations that come from a Yellowstone fan. There are a couple of subplots that flow well through the episodes, but perhaps one of them compromises the overall quality of the show.
The cast portrays their characters well
I’m sure you’ll find out which one! The visual production is noteworthy; the direction and environment creation are to be commended. It would be interesting to get the perspective of people who work in the industry on how realistic the scenes in the field are.
Billy Bob Thornton is exemplary and really drives the show well
Overall a very good series, visually well crafted and superbly acted.
