This is a faulty assumption
Story
When Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with presiding over one of the world’s most secret and ancient events, the election of a new pope, he finds himself at the center of a conspiracy that could shake the foundations of the Catholic Church. Based on Robert Harris' The 2016 novel “Conclave”. Cardinal Benitez delivers his summit speech in Spanish. It’s a bit hard to believe that the other cardinals can easily understand him.

All of the cardinals are fluent in Latin by default, and many speak Italian during other conversations in the film. All of these languages belong to the Romance language family, so it is not an exaggeration to assume that the majority of cardinals have a basic knowledge of Spanish. Sister Agnes: Although we sisters are invisible, God has nevertheless given us eyes and ears.. Overall, it’s a very good film, making good use of the talents of the cast and crew.
A very approachable show
Lots of nice touches add interest and entertainment value, e.g. The lines are in Latin with English subtitles. I particularly liked the voice work as the lines were easier to hear and understand than in many other recent films and the score was very effective. The characters and acting may have been sanitized a bit to appeal to a wider audience.
A rougher, more realistic representation would have been an interesting alternative here
This film should be especially entertaining for those interested in the evolution of the papacy through the new popes, showing how the teachings of Christ should be interpreted in the modern world. Definitely check this out if you have strong opinions about the decisions the church makes when electing popes. Non-Catholics will also enjoy this look at how sausage is made, and it’s not often we see this inside perspective. The only similar film recently is "The Two Popes" which was a more cordial story.
The present film is more about the machinations and Machiavellian behavior of the College of Cardinals
The climax of the plot comes near the end, but it’s worth the wait and quite unpredictable.
